Nurturing the most deprived children toward a brighter future

For over four decades, we have sheltered, taught and loved orphaned and destitute children — helping them grow into independent, honest and confident human beings.

Our Founder

A lifetime of selfless devotion

A visionary with exemplary selfless devotion, Dr Acharya has illuminated the lives of poor, orphaned and destitute children. He earned his PhD in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany.

Though he could have built a fortune for himself, he chose instead to forgo the material world and devote his entire life to the welfare of the most deprived children of our community — teaching them the value of science and the principles of living free from religious, gender, political and caste bias.

Now 84 years old, he continues to conduct women's awareness camps, health programs, science exhibitions, youth camps, environment awareness drives and a creche for the babies of working women.

About Us

Raising children to stand on their own feet

The seedling of Service to Humanity Foundation was sown on 30th January 1981. Our objective is to rear orphaned and destitute children for a wholesome upbringing — developing a scientific approach to learning, free from non-scientific beliefs.

Led by principal instructor Ms Hemanta — fondly called “Ma” — children are raised with patience, love and care, so that every child may grow into a confident, honest and responsible adult.

In Their Words

Stories from those who have visited

The Service to Humanity Foundation is one of a kind, serving the most deprived and vulnerable children amongst the local tribal community. If one were to witness Dr Acharya with the orphan children, you can see the warmth and genuine love in their interactions. Ms Hemanta, addressed as 'Ma', truly treats every child like her own.

It's been a wonderful journey with the inmates of the Ashram, and we hope to continue it well into the future. The way the children are trained to be self-reliant, courteous and full of etiquette is commendable. The sacrifice of Prof. S. Acharya is to be seen to be believed.
